Our Journey to Becoming a Leading Demolition Contractor
Our journey began back in 1985 under the leadership of Allister Boote. Originally known as Sandbach Car & Commercial Dismantlers (SCCD), we were based at Bath Street in Sandbach. Our focus was primarily on car breaking, small scale scrap buying and surplus army sales.
- In 1987, we built an aluminium furnace at our yard. It was a strategic move that saw us begin to smelt aluminium, producing aluminium ingots.
- By 2002, our focus shifted to scrap steel and vehicles, due to less profitability in aluminium. This shift in focus also coincided with an increased need for yard space, resulting in the removal of the furnace.
- In 2003, we became proactive about steel recycling, introducing a skip hire service to maximise productivity.
- In 2005, we branched out further, seeking scrap on a larger scale by offering dismantling and demolition services.
- In 2006, we started using online auctions to source ferrous and non-ferrous metals from further afield.
- In 2007, we made our first overseas scrap purchase, paving the way for strong working relationships with companies in mainland Europe and Scandinavia.
In December 2010, we changed our name to Sandbach Commercial Dismantlers Ltd, which better represents our company focus.
