Founded in 1985 by Allister Boote, Sandbach Commercial Dismantlers began its journey by focusing on car breaking, small scale scrap buying and surplus army sales. The company later changed its location to a larger yard at Moston Road in Sandbach to accommodate its growing business.
In 1987, the company ventured into smelting aluminium, producing aluminium ingots, and continued breaking cars and smelting aluminium until 2002. The shift from aluminium to scrap steel and vehicles came due to less profitability in aluminium and the need for more space, causing the furnace to be removed.
2003 witnessed Sandbach Commercial Dismantlers becoming proactive about steel recycling and expanding their customer base with the introduction of a skip hire service. This was aimed at maximising productivity and making the most of the resources at hand.
By 2005, the company sought scrap on a larger scale and began offering demolition and dismantling services. To further widen its reach, online auctions were used in 2006 to look for ferrous and non-ferrous metals. The first overseas scrap purchase was made in 2007, establishing working relationships with companies in mainland Europe and Scandinavia.
In December 2010, the company name was changed from Sandbach Car & Commercial Dismantlers Ltd to Sandbach Commercial Dismantlers Ltd, better reflecting the company’s focus.
