Sandbach Commercial Dismantlers was founded in 1985 by Allister Boote, with the original yard based at Bath Street in Sandbach. The company initially focused on car breaking, small scale scrap buying, and surplus army sales. To support business growth, the yard relocated to a larger site at Moston Road in Sandbach, where it is currently based.
In 1987, the company built an aluminium furnace at the yard and started smelting aluminium, producing aluminium ingots.
Over time, the focus shifted to scrap steel and vehicles, which coincided with less profitability in aluminium. This led to the removal of the furnace and a greater emphasis on steel recycling.
In 2003, the company introduced a skip hire service to increase productivity and expand its customer base.
By 2005, the company sought larger scale scrap by offering dismantling and demolition services. The use of online auctions in 2006 allowed the company to source ferrous and non-ferrous metals from further afield.
The first overseas purchase was made in 2007, paving the way for good working relationships with companies in mainland Europe and Scandinavia.
The company changed its name to Sandbach Commercial Dismantlers Ltd in December 2010 to better represent the company’s focus.
