The company began producing aluminium ingots in 1987 after building an aluminium furnace. However, by 2002, the focus shifted to scrap steel and vehicles due to reduced profitability in aluminium.
The company became proactive about steel recycling in 2003 and introduced a skip hire service to increase productivity. In 2005, Sandbach Commercial Dismantlers expanded its operations to seek larger scale scrap by offering dismantling and demolition services. The company made its first overseas scrap purchase in 2007, which led to fruitful collaborations with companies in mainland Europe and Scandinavia. The company officially changed its name to Sandbach Commercial Dismantlers Ltd in December 2010 to better represent its focus.
